Rice Prepares for 2008 Recycling Days for Do-It-Yourselfer's Used Oil (and Their Old Cell Phones)

The Rice Companies are making plans for 2008 to marry Cell Phones for Soldiers with its MyGeneration program. For local businesses its a chance to build awareness for environmental sustainability. Simply put, we'll donate our assets for collection & recycling days for do-it-yourselfers that have stored up in their garages used oil, used filters and used antifreeze. (Do-it-yourselfers are folks that change their own oil in their cars and trucks).

Fast oil change locations, car dealerships, automotive service centers, car washes, VFW's, municipalities, schools and parks are examples of business and groups we’d like to partner with to promote environmental sustainability with the general public.

Do-it-yourselfers can drop off their used oil, used oil filters and used antifreeze that’s been stashed in their garages for years and feel confident that everything will be collected, transported and recycled with environmental sustainability (and EPA regs) guiding us all along the way.

(Yes, there are still folks who will be deaf to these collection & recycling days. They are either ignorant - don't know any better - or stupid - know better but do it anyways - and still dump used oil out back along the fence line, toss oil filters in the trash and pour used antifreeze down the drain. They are, fortunately, a dying breed.)
